Ages.....

Its been ages since I blogged. I have totally lost the habit of blogging, but when I read back all my previous blogs, I felt good. They were not bad at all!
So much has changed since my last blog in Jan 2008. Marriage has shifted my life upside down, all for good of course. I'm still dealing with the after-effects of marriage :-).
My old friends at work (as well as outside) have all left. They have either shifted elsewhere or gone onsite. My life revolves around just person now - Bala. Contrast it with the hug number of people I used to have around me before! But I dont mind. Its ok. Life is a lot more peaceful now. I'm doing better at work, better than ever before and my day-to-day life passes in managing my home and work simulateously. I have become a decent cook too, in the process.
Life just moves on....

Ye Ishq Hai

I dont enjoy video sequences of songs in Indian movies too much. Like many others, I'm also sceptical about song sequences in Indian movies. All of a sudden, in the middle of a serious situation, people break out into singing and dancing, which really doesnt fit in. I agree. I dont like those cliched dance sequences, especially those shot in a wedding setup. Like the ones in Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham. I mean, I like watching those songs indivudally, each one of them separately, without linking it with the main movie. This I like, primarily, because of the clothes (they wear such expensive stuff!!) and sometimes, the music and beats are really nice. But I generally find it silly (like so many others) that people break out into music and dance in the middle of a movie.

But, in spite of all this, I really liked one of the song sequences I watched recently - Ye Ishq Hai from the movie 'Jab We Met'. In fact, I fell in love with it in the theatre itself.

First, I liked the setting of the song. The song is not set in one of those extremely gawdy and totally un-natural sets with glittering stuff all over the place. The beginning scene where both of them are travelling in a jeep, in the middle of snow clad mountains.. whoaaa! And later in the song too, it is shot in a very festive atmosphere in Shimla.

Secondly and most importantly, a very very bubbly and excited Kareena! liked Kareena, even before this movie. I thought she was a decent actress. But in this movie and especially, in this song, she has simply excelled herself. Man! what expressions! It goes so well with the tempo and the tone of the song and its soo natural! Not like those lovey dopey cloying stuff that most heroines project.I can almost feel her excitement vibrating in the atmosphere. She completely fits in. She looks like a woman who is truly in love and really excited about it.There are a couple of scenes in the video, which I keep re-playing in You Tube just to watch her expressions. She is damn cute!

Thirdly is the song itself. Hear it once and you'll like it. After watching the video, I feel like skipping and hopping every time I listen to the song. It peps me up totally, even if I'm not in a so-peppy mood. Shreya Ghoshal is the female lead singer and well.. even she has pumped in so much emotion in the song. By emotion, I dont mean 'Oh my piya,aa ja.. I love you' emotion, I mean the happiness.. the excitement..you can feel it in her voice. I really think she deserves another award for this one. And her voice goes so well with Kareena in the picture. Kareena's acting and Shreya's voice complement each other in every way. Kareena has matched the excitement projected by Shreya Ghoshal in her body movements perfectly.

Lyrics. This is going to sound corny, but I think they fit in perfectly with whatever I'm going thro' in my life right now.In love and totally in bliss because of that.

All in all, this would be one of the videos that I would enjoy watching any time, even after the movie becomes old. Unlike some song videos (Like those in the movie Sivaji). I just flip channels now when one of them come on tv, even though, when the movie came out I would have almost given one arm and one leg to watch even one of them. Now, I'm bored of the expensive sets, expensive clothes and the un-natural acting. I find them too un-natural and claustrophobic.
