My 'Salad Days'

For most people, the best days in life are their days in college. People always have nostalgic feelings about their college

days and always look back with affection. Absolutely no responsibilities, no pressure from parents with fun n frolic, college

is the time when u find friends who are ready to do almost anything for u...the time when you find those friends who are

going to walk u thro' life..the time when u do things that cannotbe thought of now,.. the time when bunking classes, First

Day First Show movies,over-speeding in 2/4 wheelers were the high priority things in life!!!

However, for me all these things did not happen in college..
No, thats not right!!! not that it DIDNOT happen, but I somehow do not relish that time of my life too much. I cannot look back at my college life and say that "Oh! those times". I do feel

nostalgic now and then but that feeling doesnt come from DEEP in my heart.. Ofcourse I found a lot of new friends who are

going to come with me throughout my life, but some element of enjoyment was missing, I'm notsure myself which one it is... It

could be attributed to the fact that I was a day scholar and so i missed out a lot of fun that hostelites have or i was

involved in...hmm.. lets say other personal issues..whatever it was ,by the time I was in final year, i was kinda glad that

its going to be over!!!there are more bitter memories than sweet memories for me..

Anyways, my point was not to discuss my college life.. on the contrary!!!

My "SALAD DAYS" till date began when I joined my first job in Bangalore on July 27th 2004. I found an amazing group of

friends during my induction and training who matched my wavelength. With the exception of the few of my guy friends in college I didnt find guyfriends who matched my wavelength in my college. I always felt that I was considered to be a flirt due to the fact that I usually interact a lot with both guys and gals. But these group of friends whom I found in Bangalore are simply the BEST. I have gelled with all of them sooo well!!there has not been a single moment when I felt uncomfortable with any of them.. I wouldnt call them my BEST pals but I know that if i had a problem, they would come to my help..Not that I shared all my deepest secrets with them, but they were still gr8 friends. They were not the kind of people who would condemn a girl to the forever doom of being labelled a flirt or a poruki (which is, the tamil version of rogue) just because she has a guyfriend (not a a boyfriend, please note.. im referring to a friend who is a guy) or because she is a social person.

We have had so much fun together - movies, trips, pubs, booze wat not??
Some memorable times include Bandipur trip, Hogenakkal trip, New year's party @ iBar (WOW!! wat a day it was!), treat @

Auras, Treat @ Spigas, all the wonderful midnight birthday celebrations, and the list goes on.... Wat great times we had!!!

it was just like college days.. these were MY Fun days...

Now, we are not together any more. People have moved on, as they usually do. All the guys have moved on to do their MBAs from

prestigious institutions of this country. I'm sure they are going to go places in LIFE!
The gang is broken. But we do stay in touch!!! How could I not?? I sincerely hope this would continue throughout my life...

Poornima, bull's eye de. I didn't relish college life too and was waiting for it to get over! Sometimes, when people include me when they talk longingly about good old days(?!) in KCT... I don't know how to react!! ;)
P.S: You don't flirt. :)
